Electronic lock is an excellent practical
demonstration of what fine electromechanics can do.
Development of any electronic locks is always
accompanied by a major challenge - reliability and longevity
of its autonomous power supply.
Electronic
locks based on electromagnetic actuators, micromotors or
solenoids, consume so much power for operation that
traditional batteries do not last longer than a year or two.
Markets of electronic locks are very sensitive to this
problem and considerably expand with any new step towards
improvement of the power supply
reliability.
Battery-free electronic locks are
the dream of hotel managers, business centers administrators,
valuable safe users, cargo truck dispatchers, military
officers and many others who are looking for locks with
"brains".
In response to that demand,
Qmodule,Inc. has developed numerious prototypes of
battery-free electronic locks based on CHIPLOCK
technology of electrostatic blocking devices.

Qblock has been primarily designed as a
universal module for designing super low power electronic
locks. Power consumption of Qblock is 100 times less
than traditional electromagnetic locking devices. That means
that even powered by small coin-like 3v lithium battery
electronic locks with Qblock will need no maintenance
for at least 8 years!
In order to simplify
design of various electronic locks Qblock will be
available in modification with access control electronics
assembled in one module - Qlock.
Qlock can be directly
used by mechanical lock designers without special knowledge
and experience in electronics for various locking systems -
door locks, padlocks, safe locks, locker locks, mortise
cylinders, etc.
Qlock has
been developed in Low-End (Master key controlled) version and
High-End (PC controlled) versions.
As additional options, Qlock
electronics will be able to work with different electronic
keys like - RFID transponders, tablets and cards, iButtons,
and other desirable user interface.
